Microcement finishes and bespoke artwork

Taigh a’ Chladaich, Edinbane

Taigh a' Chladaich was designed by Dualchas Architects as a contemporary coastal home where handcrafted finishes sit naturally within the architecture and surrounding landscape.

The project included bespoke microcement finishes to two bathrooms, a kitchen island and worktops using Novacolor Wall2Floor Microcement, along with continuous Magma Microcement flooring throughout the home. Every finish was made in a bespoke colour, developed to suit each space while keeping a consistent feel throughout the house.

The bathrooms have a lightly sanded, more natural texture, while the kitchen surfaces and floors have a smoother finish with soft smoky movement and subtle cloud-like variation.

To complete the project, I created a bespoke artwork inspired by the sea loch setting. It was crafted using authentic lime-based Novacolor Venetian plaster and controlled oxidation techniques, creating textures and colours that reflect the surrounding coastline and tie the whole project together.
